Animal-tested beauty products banned in India.

India has become the first cruelty free zone in South Asia after placing a ban on the import of animal tested beauty products with effective from 13th November, 2014 according to the Drugs and Cosmetics (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 2014

This ban came just a few months after India also implemented a ban on cosmetic testing on animals in Indian labs.

The double ban is a huge victory for the several organizations working tireless for this cause in India and across the world!

However, this victory is just one of the many that have been witnessed in India this year. Shark finning was banned by the country in late August while dog fighting, jalli kattu, the import and consumption of foie gras and religious animal sacrifices have also been banned by the Supreme Court of India.
